Setting up iCloud for Automatic Backups

Automatic backups are a great way to keep your Apple device in working order. With backups, your device is able to be restored in the event that the software fails

Prerequisites: Must own an Apple Device (iPhone, Mac, etc.)

Estimated Time: 5 minutes

Expected Outcome: Your device will be set to automatically backup

Tools Required: No physical tools will be needed

On an iPhone

Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > scroll down to iCloud Backup > enable Backup

On a Mac

Go to the Apple Menu > select System Preferences > choose the Time Machine icon (picture below) > click Select Backup Disk > select the name of your external drive from the list > check the Backup Automatically box

Note that you will need an external HDD to act as your backup for the Mac (physical storage working in parallel with iCloud)
