How to Set up Zoom on Computers and Mobile Devices

Zoom is a great tool for remote calls/meetings, so let's go over how to download and use it on your devices!

Prerequisites: Access to the Internet

Estimated Time: 15 minutes

Expected Outcome: You will have Zoom installed on your computer and phone and an account

Tools Required: Your devices 

Steps to Perform: Computer Download

1. Navigate to the Zoom download website, or click this link to get there
2. Under ‘Zoom Client for Meetings’ click ‘Download’
3. When the download finishes in the bottom of your screen, click on it to automatically run the installation
4. When the installation finishes, it will open to the login screen
5. If you have an account, sign in and you’re ready to Zoom
6. If you are brand new to Zoom, click ‘Sign up free’ in the bottom right of the login screen
7. First it will ask you to verify your birthday
8. Enter the email address you want to use for your account then click ‘Sign Up’
9. Go check your email inbox for the confirmation email that was just sent to you
10. In the email click ‘Activate Account’
11. Enter your first and last name, choose a password, and click ‘Continue’
12. It will give you a chance to enter emails of anyone you would like to connect with on Zoom, or you can click ‘Skip this step’
13. Now you can click one of two buttons to proceed
    1. ‘Go to my account’ will take you to your account settings for customization 
    2. ‘Start meeting now’ will open a new tab on your browser with a popup for you to click ‘Open Zoom’ which will open the app on your computer
14. Be sure to turn on your audio and video as prompted for the meeting
    1. You can turn off audio, video, or both at any time during the meetings

Steps to Perform: Phone Download

1. Open the app store on your phone 
2. Search for Zoom and download ‘ZOOM Cloud Meetings’
3. When it is finished downloading, open the app
4. If you have an account, sign in and you’re ready to Zoom
5. If you are brand new to Zoom, tap ‘Sign up’ in the bottom of the login screen
6. Enter your first and last name and the email address you would like to use for the account
7. Tap ‘Sign up’

10. Choose a password, and click ‘Continue’
