How to add, edit, and delete pages or posts from websites using WPEngine

When posts or pages need to be changed, updated, or removed from websites that are hosted by NNI

Prerequisites: WPEngine Block Editor

Difficulty Level: Member • Nerd • Platypus

Estimated Time: 30 minutes

Expected Outcome: The page was added, edited, or deleted

Tools Required: Web Browser

Steps to Perform

  1. Let’s first talk about the difference between posts and pages, posts are blog style links that appear on the website. They can be embedded on pages, or appear as news style links on the website as so:
  2. Pages are sections of the website that can host posts, webforms, and other types of content. Now let’s get into how to edit, delete, and add posts and pages.
  3. First login to WPEngine using your email and password.
  4. Find the website you are looking to edit and click on it.
  5. Then Click WP Admin at the top of that site.
  6. When you make changes to the site it is always best to start off editing the Dev website, because any changes made to the production website will immediately go live to the main website.
  7. Click on pages or posts on the left side of the screen.
  8.  By hovering over any page, a menu bar will pop up underneath allowing you to delete or edit existing pages or posts. Pages or posts can be deleted in bulk by checking the pages on the left-hand side of the screen and using the bulk actions button to delete several pages or posts at once.
  9.  To edit an existing page or post simply click the edit  page or post above to be taken to the block editor.
  10.  There are a lot of different tools in the block editor that would be best gone over in another Gizmo Guide.
  11. To add a new post, click “Add New” at the top next to “Pages” or “Post”. This will again take you to the block editor.
