Install LogMeIn from Deployment

We routinely send Deployment packages to Members to allow them to add their own computer(s) to our LogMeIn system so we can help them when they have issues.

Prerequisites: Experience installing LogMeIn on Windows and Mac.

Difficulty Level: Member | Nerd | Platypus

Estimated Time: 10-30 minutes

Expected Outcome: LogMeIn Control Panel will show computer as available for connections

Tools Required: Admin access to computer with Internet Access; Deployment Link

Steps to Perform

  1. Log into Computer with Admin Access
  2. If LogMeIn is already installed, uninstall before proceeding
    1. Windows Vista or newer:
      1. Click Start > Control Panel.
      2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program
      3. Select LogMeIn in the list and click Uninstall.
    2. Windows XP or 2000:
      1. Click Start > Control Panel.
      2. Open Add/Remove Programs.
      3. Select LogMeIn in the list and click Change/Remove.
    3. Mac:
      1. On the Finder menu bar of your desktop, click Go > Applications.
      2. Double-click LogMeIn. The LogMeIn toolkit is displayed.
      3. On the About tab, click Uninstall.
      4. Click Yes. Uninstallation of LogMeIn begins.
    4. Note:A reboot is recommended, but not required.
  3. Click on Deployment Link
  4. When page opens, add computer name, and check that source is trusted
    1. Computer Naming: Company or Family (User or Function) - Make Model Form Factor
    2. Examples:
      1. Smith (John) - Apple iMac Desktop
      2. Smith (Office PC) - Dell Desktop
      3. ACME (Server 1) - Dell Server
  5. Follow instructions to install application
  6. When installation is complete, two boxes will be displayed
    1. Just close both boxes...no need to log into the Client portal

If your Nerd gets locked out due to too many attempts with the wrong credentials, you’ll need to unblock her so she can get back in.

  1. Open the LogMeIn Control Panel and follow this path: Options > Preferences > Security.Under Authentication Attack Blocker, click Unblock all
